Which one to choose eh...? Which is it that youartist ar work're looking for? Are you sure?.... or is the line a little blurred between these two offerings? The reality is that all the schools we work with offer both holidays AND courses!

Whether it is a course or a holiday is to a large degree down to what you want as the customer. Art schools will tailor the amount of one to one time spent with you depending on your requirements. That doesn't mean that they'll be able to spend all day with you, however, if you are looking for a level of interaction, instruction, and structure which will assist you in moving along the learning path then you will get this. As a bonus though, you will find that being immersed in a new culture, environment, going on field trips, trying the local cuisine, fumbling with the local language will whether you like it or not result in you having a holiday too!

That said if your idea of a painting holiday is well,…more holiday than painting you won't be disappointed. Take the field trips, perhaps add another one or two of your own and pick your tutors brains when you feel the need. Relax, paint a bit and go home with both a tan and a piece of art to show for your trouble

Who goes on a Painting Holiday?
The majority of art holidaymakers are beginner / novice to intermediate level. Occasionally more experienced artists do attend but more to use the facilities and have another experienced artist to bounce ideas off of or to simply provide a different view point.

What to take?
Make sure you take a small rucksack as these can be invaluable for carrying your things when on a field trip. You may also like to consider taking a folding seat of some sort if you think you painting pallettemay go off on your own to paint somewhere. If you're sketching then pack a sketchbook which has a reasonably stiff cover as this will do away with the need for a drawing board. Ask the school before you go what they feel you should bring and what they provide themselves.

How many others will there be?
Generally you'll find courses have between 4 to 8 people on them. Each person regardless of ability always makes a valuable contribution to the group and often you'll find people who come with no background in art best able to ask the pertinent questions, intentionally or not! Each attendee will have their own artistic objectives but each school will aim to help you get more out of your painting holiday by providing you with the inspiration to develop you work in ways you may not have thought of.
